I was fortunate to have grown up in the SF Bay Area in the 60′s and to be specific my stomping ground was the east side of the bay and there was a local band (that later gained national fame) we followed and went to see no matter where they played and of course you know I mean “The Tower of Power”
The Tower (as they’re called) is (for me) the perfect intersection of Jazz, Funk, Bob, Blues and good old James Brown style get up off your butt kind of music. I haven’t seen them in years but they do get back here to Albuquerque occasionally and it’s on the list of must do’s before I die.
Besides James Brown (whom I had the pleasure of seeing twice) The Tower is in my top 5 of must see’s.
If the truth be known I actually went to elementary school with the brother of one of the members of the Tower. That’s all I’m saying.
